Gustaf announce new album, Audio Drag for Ego Slobs / New signing: Deanna Petcoff

Gustaf announce debut LP, Audio Drag for Ego Slobs

Gustaf have announced their debut full length, Audio Drag for Ego Slobs, out October 1st 2021 on Royal Mountain. Today they're sharing 'Book' the first single taken from the record, along with a thrilling video.

From the band, "'Book' is a song about the fallacy and fight of getting ahead vs being a head. It is seeking validation in the wrong places and from the wrong people. The hook, “I got ahead, I got a head” is a fun little taunt that we find either being thrown in our face or coming out our mouth. Everyone gets their moment up on the pedestal and everyone gets their turn falling off of it. Whether it’s up or down, ‘Book’ is about accepting whatever level you’re on."

Gustaf are headed on an extensive tour this fall, throughout the US supporting Idles as well as Pillow Queens in the UK.

New signing: Deanna Petcoff

Deanna Petcoff's songwriting finds humour in frustration. 'Failing Upwards,' her latest single, is a shimmery jangling tune with a surfy guitar riff - the perfect song to get stuck in your head for days on end.

Of the track, Petcoff says ""Failing Upwards” wasn’t supposed to be a happy song. At the time I was trying to make a relationship work that clearly wasn’t working with someone I was really in love with. I felt like every choice I had made and continued to make was the wrong one and that everything I did just added more fuel to a growing fire. When I was writing “Failing Upwards” I was thinking about my journey as a woman falling in and out of love. This is a song about not being at your best, but doing better than before."
